Motherboard CPU power supply slot and circuit
There are two common mainboard power supply input interfaces: mainboard 24pin slot and CPU power supply slot. The former is a fixed 24pin specification on most boards, while the latter will give 4Pin, 8pin, 8 + 6pin, or even double 8pin "violent power supply" according to different mainboard positioning.
In fact, even if only one 8pin is inserted into the dual 8pin slot, it can work normally. The purpose of giving two 8pins is to make it more stable when the frequency is exceeded. However, this can not directly determine how much the performance of the frequency is improved, it can only be regarded as an auxiliary power supply means.
It should be noted that although the power supply interface of CPU and graphics card has 6pin and 8pin, the design is different. Do not try to insert it by force, so as to avoid "miracle".
The power supply part of CPU is composed of "multi-phase parallel" control circuit, in which the standard power supply of each phase is composed of a capacitor, an inductor and a pair of MOS transistors, and a PWM chip is responsible for the control, which determines the number of power supply phases.
However, there is also a combination of "two inductors per phase", or four MOS transistors in a group of "two up and two down". The more materials used, the more luxurious it is. However, it also depends on the brand and specific model specifications of the components used. Some bad 8-phase devices may not be better than others' 6-phase devices.
Which is the power supply line of computer CPU?
Computer CPU power supply line can be divided into 4Pin and 8pin. In the past, the old motherboard CPU auxiliary power supply only needed 4Pin, but now the motherboard is basically 8pin power supply. 4Pin is only half less than 8pin. The definition of power supply is the same.
ATX power supply specification stipulates that the yellow line of CPU auxiliary power supply line is + 12V, and the black line is ground wire. The CPU power supply line is shown in the figure below:
Where is the CPU power supply interface on the motherboard?
The power socket of CPU is usually beside the CPU interface, which is usually four pin or eight pin, as circled in red in the figure
The figure shows four pins, that is, four pins. Some motherboards may have eight pins. Generally, high-end motherboards appear, because high-end motherboards can overclock the CPU, and overclocking requires more power supply and more stable power supply.
